The global COVID pandemic has forced businesses to relook at
the conventional office set-up and to consider adopting hybrid in-office and
remote working practices. According to Gartner, resilient organizations (and
ultimately successful organizations) are the ones that embrace radical
flexibility https://www.gartner.com/smarterwithgartner/are-you-a-hybrid-workforce-champion-or-a-laggard/
That is to say, a hybrid workforce that flows through more than one type of
location, from solo and remote sites to sites of small groups, without
forsaking corporate culture and collaboration.
But, Gartner point out, this is only possible if the leadership shifts
mindset and adopts appropriate management skill sets. Included in the paradigm
shift is the view that technology is an enabler.
A hybrid workforce can only thrive if the building blocks
(data and information) are protected. The Protection of Personal Information
Act becomes operational on 1 July 2021. It applies to public and private
entities and so gives effect to the Constitutional right to privacy. It sets
out the rights for the protection of personal information as well as the minimum
requirements for processing it. The Act also provides for the establishment of
an independent body, known as the Information Regulator, to monitor and enforce
the rules.
Complying with the Act is mandatory, but it also presents an
opportunity to make your business agile. Lexify offers a range of services for
the implementation of privacy controls. Our methodology starts with an
understanding of the uniqueness of your business. We then conduct a data
protection impact assessment. We provide change management oversight and post
implementation reviews.
